IAIO Initiative Launches Governance Framework Consultation

The IAIO Initiative today published the first consultation draft of its proposed Governance Framework for an International Artificial Intelligence Organization (IAIO), marking a significant milestone in the Initiative's effort to advance international AI governance.

The Governance Framework sets out a proposed institutional design for an IAIO, including its mandate and objectives, membership structure, governance bodies, core functions, and guiding principles. It draws on the precedent of established international organizations including the IAEA, ICAO, and WHO.

The consultation draft is open for public and expert feedback until 31 March 2027. The Initiative invites submissions from governments, international organizations, researchers, civil society, and all interested stakeholders. A revised framework will be published following the close of the consultation period.
